I worked at Capital Insurance Group full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

CIG is a great place to work. This is a small/medium size company with a very friendly environment and plenty of opportunities. If you have the skills and desire to learn and grow, CIG will give you the opportunity to present your skills and prove that there is no obstacle to big that you cannot overcome.

Cons

CIG's compensation does not rank very high. If you like to learn and refine your skill in a small but friendly atmosphere; then CIG is your place to work. If you are looking to get "paid", then you might decide that CIG is not the best place for you.

Advice to Management

Management style is good here. Only advice is "you get what you paid for". If you want talented workers to stay and work for you, then sometimes you have to recognize that and try harder to keep them.

    Pros

They are great at working with you when you need time off and the Employee Stock Option is a good retirement program. The benefits package they offer has a lot of options to chose from. The supervision and management team do allow you to perform your job with minimal interference.

    Cons

The sytems and claim handling processes are very out-dated. There are no real internal operating procedures that are geared toward the companies claims handiling. The company is a smaller insurance company so the pay is quite a bit lower than the industry average. While the leadership does allow you the freedom to do your job, it relies solely on one person to make all claims coverage and handling decisions.

    Advice to Management

Review and implementation of the claims systems and guidelines needs to be completed on a regular basis and in a timely manner.

  2. "Lots of opportunity"

    Pros

Leadership seems genuinely interested in employee feedback and are open to change. Tighter focus on goals helps employees know priorities. Communication within the company is improving. Great location!

    Cons

I wish we could move faster to implement new technologies so we can keep from falling behind our competitors. Need to raise base salaries.

    Advice to Management

Base pay, even with stock ownership, is too low for the central coast. Good employees will leave for better paying jobs.
