I worked at Capital One full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

You will be working with very intelligent people due to its strict selection criteria. In general, associate is empowered to drive initiatives. Capital One has very good training program.

Cons

Company tends to promote similar type of person. If you fall under that type, congratulations, you will have a great career path there. If you don't fall under that type, it is still a good place to work, but don't expect that you will be able to climb the corporate ladder.

Advice to Management

It will be helpful to have different type person in management which will help to have better decision.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. amazing corporate structures and work/life balance.
    2. PLENTY to learn.
    3. Fantastic templates for anyone to pick up and learn
    4. Great internal roles to diversify if desired
    5. Helpful coworkers

    Cons

    1. Cap One purchased HSBC's credit card portfolio and kept the whole group in the dark when mapping roles.
    2. Upper management is focused on just completing Integration projects and get turned on with "Agile" where it does not always work.
    3. Job is stable but FORGET getting promotions every year. a 3% increase in base pay(less than inflation) is not exciting

    Advice to Management

    1. provide hard core certifications that can be completed within a week, PMP, CBAP, ITIL, SAP BI, TOGAF
    2. Directors need to focus on giving subordinates motivation vs just getting the job done.
