I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Capital One is one of the best places to start a career, because they place a lot of value on development and training. Campus recruiting starts new hires in an Analyst Development Program that trains job specific skills and provides an avenue to network with peers for the first year at the company.

Cons

While the job as a package is very attractive to college graduates just starting out, it is sometimes difficult for Capital One to deliver on its description of job role at the company. Business analysts are supposed to drive in market strategy, but are sometimes used as a "jack-of-all-trades" to do less intelectually stimulating jobs.

Advice to Management

Expend more effort getting externally hired executives integrated with the performance management system and core values. New executives tend to come in with unrealistic expectations that can lead to overwork and discontent.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, medical, dental and vacation available from day one. Excellent 401k employer match program and of course five day work week in fraud recovery

    Cons

The cons, job specifics has changed a great deal from investigating fraud to simply providing customer service to repeat cardholders and/ or would be fraudsters. The pay isn't enough for those with various backgrounds in the financial industry. The year appraisal end process for associate is based strictly on personal opinion and favoritism to managers. Some associates are promoted to other roles of recovery while others are stuck and not provided with support and coaching needed to succeed.

    Advice to Management

The advice that I would give to upper management is focus on the more investigative side of fraud, revise the rebill process and not so much on customer service wow calls. Less objective on quality assurance ratings and a better revision of how agents metrics are scored. Merit increases should be given to associates who work hard rather then pets of team managers.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Capital One full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Excellent Benefits
    - Work/Life Balance
    - Rewards and Recognition for Hard Work
    - Alot of Opportunities to Showcase your Work
    - Excellent Training & Learning Opportunities

    Cons

    - Too many business people bogging down IT
    - Business managers pushing their agile agenda & other management gimicks

    Advice to Management

Cut the excessive amount of micro-managers at every level. Use budget savings to reward developers & IT workers. Developers do all of the real work. Middle managers mostly sit around, get bored, and try to create extra work for developers because they have nothing better to do. It doesn't take 3 business people to manage 2 developers.
