I worked at Capital One as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

- Good hands on experience. You're given your own project to work on, but also given the resources necessary to assist. Not overly demanding so it still feels like you have your summer, but still a "real" work experience.
- Opportunities to hear from upper management and people who have come from all walks.
- Sessions to teach to you about presentations, public speaking, etc.
- A very high rate of interns (80%+) receive generous job offers at the end of their internship

Cons

Corporate infrastructure will get in the way some times; IT can be slow, you'll find yourself in unnecessary meetings, etc. This is more of a systemic problem relating to companies of this size than Capital One specifically, though.

I worked at Capital One full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can't think of a single one, except corporate culture. They couldn't do anything right.

    Cons

Horrible processing, underwriting, management non-responsive, more focused on over-charging customers on credit cards that doing mortgage loans, and held a huge employee meeting to tell us exactly that. They ask for feedback, but then ignore constructive criticism and dismiss it just the same. No customer experience focus at all.

    Advice to Management

Close the mortgage division. concentrate on your credit cards, because you do more harm than good with your mortgage division.

I worked at Capital One full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Analytically rigorous culture makes for an intellectually challenging place to work. Great development program for young analysts. The West Creek campus is a lovely place to have an office as well. Lots of opportunities to move up the ladder.

    Cons

Performance review cadence can lead to backbiting. While work/life balance is often touted, this varies greatly depending on the culture of the specific team you're on.
