I worked at Capital One full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

I was located outside of VA. The total compensation package at the Sr. Manager level for non-retail positions is generous. Also, there is the availability to work remotely when needed, which is great on those snowy days or when the kids are sick.

Cons

Salary increases and bonuses are scaled to yearly performance. Current performance management system makes it is difficult to be anything more than average. All departments must fit into a bell curve, with only small percentages falling outside the average range.

Few training opportunities available to associated outside of VA or Plano locations.

Advice to Management

Please pay more attention to development of managers, particularly in the Bank.

I have been working at Capital One full-time

    Pros

the benefits other than health, your getting a paycheck and not standing in the unemployment line

    Cons

pay, management is horrible especially in HVSD department in Tampa, there is only one good manager in this department that everyone cross the board feels is fair and manager material, the favoritism is ridiculous I have never seen anything like it and yes every company has this but this place and department takes the cake, some people get written warnings others get a pass which keeps the morale very low, mostly everyone is unhappy but pretends to be happy. Upper management could care less what goes on and seem to cater to the bullies and troublemakers, as long as the numbers are good they could care less.

    Advice to Management

Be mindful of the employees your choosing for leadership roles, it keeps the morale low when your selecting individuals stirring up gossip and trouble for lead roles, just because they have been there longer doesn't mean they are qualified for Lead roles

    Pros

    Great Benefits pays wells !

    Cons

Management... These district managers hire branch managers that were previously relationship bankers and/or branch managers at other banks, however, you can teach someone to sell but that does not mean that that branch manager knows how to manage people. I would never work in Central Queens

    Advice to Management

Know who your promoting or hiring before you put them to be branch managers or leaders in these branches and they do not know how to lead
