I have been working at Capital Podiatry full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Busy work is always there and the likeliness of you being bored is slim to none. The office location changes, so you get a change of scenery as well which is refreshing. If you are on the doctor's good side, you'll enjoy the job. He treats you with respect and will acknowledge hard work. The doctor really understands the necessity of being home with family and will avoid weekend schedules and holiday work days at nearly all costs. He encourages learning and is happy to guide during free time. He puts a lot of faith in his staff. He will never seem like the kind of doctor that has no compassion towards the patient. He will make each one feel respected and given the treatment that most doctors just don't provide anymore.

    Cons

The office has very little budget and its obvious. The equiptment and condition of both office locations is run down and not very appealing. They continue to use paper charts which is a MASSIVE issue, especially since office locations switch; you don't have the patient's chart at the right office then you've pretty much got to rely on whatever notes the dr.'s scribe did for him. No records of lab results, written prescriptions, or tests ordered are scanned in, and the computers themselves are in such bad shape you cannot expect reliability at all. Actually you can rely on there being a failure ALWAYS. Sadly, even if the hard copy charts were not a problem, there is a great disorganization overall which makes work much more difficult. If you happen to be a staff member that he does not favor, you'll feel belittled and underappreciated.

    Advice to Management

If technology was updated, and more equiptment was purchased there would be very few problems in the office with flow, team work, and communication. Budget is a problem, but you need to maintain a good supply of products and equiptment for the staff to be efficient and the patients to be happy.
