I worked at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Regular raises tied to performance reviews, the work is challenging and rewarding, generally supportive environment with some minor exceptions.

Cons

The high-stress environment of a hospital lends itself to employee drama, which some managers deal with extremely well and others do not. There are some high-level managers who do a terrible job and consistently get negative feedback from employees but keep their jobs.

Advice to Management

When there are problems with employee morale, it is usually due to perception of a lack of support/understanding from management, not necessarily day-to-day job issues.

I have been working at Carolinas HealthCare System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, telecommute, decent healthcare if you use CMC physicians. If you want to come in and do your daily tasks and then go home, you can comfortably do that here for 40 years, with your 2% annual increase and total job security.

    Cons

Pay is low for non-clinical positions, IT training is hard to come by, management is uninformed on most things, using non-CMC healthcare will cost you. If you are looking for a career with growth potential, you'll be hard pressed to find it in IT - though they re-org every year just for the sake of change, the rate of promotion is sorely lacking.

    Advice to Management

Employees need a career path clearly laid out to get motivated.

    Pros

Lots of surgical experience, including oral surgery, perio, and implants

    Cons

No ortho, but expected due to the type of population.
