    Pros

With 12+ years of great customer service under Cartelligent's belt, the company has a fairly dedicated fan base of customers. Because of this, the $500 or so service to search and attain customers vehicles is not a very hard sell. Most customers come to Cartelligent having been referred by a friend, saw license plates all over the place, or read good customer reviews. I believe that with this reputation Cartelligent... has created an option for car buyers to hire an advocate that they believe they can trust more than the typical car dealer which is known to be deceptive. If you are good with customers, and can grasp and utilize CRM technologies you will be able to convert the warm leads Cartelligent provides and make a decent career for yourself.

    Cons

Things are not always what they seem... Cartelligent just recently became transparent with its customers as far as where its revenues are derived from, possibly because they ran into some legal issues? However, sales executives have been trained to answer clients questions regarding profit rather deceptively. The truth is that Cartelligent makes much more than the $500 off most deals (broker fees, aftermarkets,... trade-in profit), hence customers really are not always getting the best deal yet with the trust they have in the reputation of Cartelligent they rarely challenge the pricing. If you have a conscience this can be a hard pill to swallow. Since your success at this company will often be gaged on your customers trust in you, when the truth starts catching up with Cartelligent, customers may be jumping ship. Credit is rarely given where credit is due at Cartelligent. Favortism is very relevant at this company. If you are a top performer, the rules do not apply to you. New ideas for growth and productivity are often either ignored, put on the back burner or claimed by somebody in upper level management to take credit for. Going above and beyond usually works against you. This has given employees the attitude that keeping ones mouth shut and just doing your job is the best route in this work environment. Cartelligent received a large amount of funding in 2012. With that funding Cartelligent spent money on renovation, opening a new office in So.Cal and went on a hiring spree. Several people hired in this hiring spree were really not needed for a company of this size. Many of these people changed their lives to work at Cartelligent. Quit former jobs, relocated (some from out of state).... Managements strategy for spending this money was not effective. Within a few months of being hired most of these new hires were laid off. Poor hiring decisions has been a trend at Cartelligent, because of this any potential employee should be very cautious when making a life changing decision such as a career move to Cartelligent.

    Advice to Management

Treat everybody with respect, your clients, your dealers and your employees. Appreciate honest, hard working employees. Learn from your mistakes in the past. Perfect your local business before trying to go global again, greed can destroy you. Lastly, and most important, read the labor laws and try not to break any of them.

I have been working at Cartelligent

    Pros

Cartelligent is a really great place to work, and though growing, still has the feel of a small company and the image of a small local business. It is a great place to show up to every day, and people get along well and support eachother. It definitely helps if you enjoy cars, because you talk abou 'em every day, non stop, and have to be somewhat excited to do so. For a capable multitasker and self starter, you... can really succeed in this position.

    Cons

It is tied to the auto industry, so definitely has busy times and really slow times -- you absolutely need to be able to adjust to the changes in the job when this happens. Though there is support, most of one's productivity relies on how quickly they are able to work and manage their workload to move it effeciently, and likely wouldn't work for someone who isn't willing to put in the time to grow their own... business to a comfortable level.

I have been working at Cartelligent full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Great coworkers and everyone is there to help you and set you up -Easy parking for people with cars -Dog friendly office -Monday through Friday (mostly)

    Cons

-The amount of money you make in the first year is not necessarily what they tell you it is in the interview process, most people at the company seem much lower apart from the seniors -Commission Only -Employee morale seems low -HR is a mess. There is one person doing the bare minimum and she does a poor job at keeping the place organized and efficient. -Poorly organized on-boarding (partially HR's... fault) -Managers seem clueless about how AE's make money, try to have us focus on client satisfaction over making any money -Old computers, we are running Windows 7 desktops. Even though they say you can work from home in the interviews, you would need your own computer to do so -Laggy internet and throttled websites makes me feel like I'm in a 1999 middle school -Having to work occasional Saturday's from 9am to 1pm is a bit of a drag -Inefficient trade process for clients makes it a hard sell and it's where most of the money is for AE's -Office is dated and poorly laid out -"Snack tree" is not a good amenity

    Advice to Management

Please update your company to the standards expected by 2019 Bay Area companies. You cannot be commission only these days and amenities may help keep people longer (a "snack tree" is a sad amenity). You will need to update your practices to survive with a younger employee base coming in.
