I have been working at Casa Pacifica full-time

Pros

Working with troubled children can be very rewarding when interventions are effective. The employees have a good sense of humor. The work is never boring. The activities staff are required to participate in with the children are diverse, fun, and interesting.

Cons

The hours are long and overtime follows a nonstandard structure--only work over 40 hours a week is considered overtime, and 12 or 16 hour days are compensated without overtime. Breaks are rare. The youth/clients can be aggressive and very disrespectful. Communication between shifts can be inconsistent.

Advice to Management

Ensure that floor staff are compensated more fairly; they are the backbone of the organization and in order to keep them happy, standard overtime structures and break schedules should be adhered to.

I worked at Casa Pacifica part-time

    Pros

Casa has amazing employees, which makes for some great co-workers. If working with incredibly challenging adolescents is someone’s calling Casa is the place to test and work on that gift.

    Cons

There is no work life balance at Casa. They stress the need for self care but expect so much time from their employees that there is never time for it.
