I worked at Caterpillar as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Competitive pay
    -Good work environment
-Large company, so have lots of resources for R&D

    Cons

-Typical big corporation problems (office politics, feeling of detachment from final product, etc.)
-If you don't make yourself stand out, you can easily blend in and hardly be noticed by management

    Advice to Management

Put less emphasis on employee performance reviews - They should be used as a general guide for the employee to show areas that they need more development, not used as a metric for who keeps their job and who is let go.
