I worked at Catholic Charities USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Organization seems committed to the mission of uplifting the poor. A high level of dedication among staff and volunteers. Opportunity for advancement. Flexible schedule is very good for families. Good health care benefits.

    Cons

No realistic strategic fundraising plan. Lack of understanding and respect by program and operations staff for development team knowledge, practices, and pressures. Insufficient collaboration and cooperation between senior program staff and development, especially during program planning stages. Destructive pettiness and office politics.

    Advice to Management

Development and Programs must plan and work as equal partners to maximize opportunities for sustainability. Staff must feel like they are valued and treated fairly for retention and to maintain good will.
