Pros
If you’re passionate about starting a career in human rights or civil rights advocacy, this is an OKAY place to start.
Cons
My manager was a bully who tormented staff ceaselessly. All subordinates were afraid of asking questions or taking initiative. Manager also refused to acknowledge when they made a mistake. The environment was incredibly toxic—I wasn’t bullied to that extent in middle school! The Center talks a good game about human rights and social justice, but treats lower staff like crap. Very low wages, limited hours, no benefits, no PTO, no family leave, and no advancement. Parking costs $$ too. The Center makes a A LOT of money, but this seems to be going to the board members, high profile events, etc.
