Pros

If you start in any other part of the company except customer service, its a great place to get experience in a large successful organization.

Cons

Customer Service department is not looked upon or treated well in the company. They are looked down upon and as such is very difficult for most individuals to get out of (promoted), unless and individual has extraordinary networking abilities and skills.

Advice to Management

Use the information your employees can provide to you. Information is a valuable resource and if used properly, can save a company a lot of money. Instead of jumping on the bandwagon with the next new implementation, check with your employees to determine your requirements. That way what you implement will be EFFECTIVE vs constantly trying to band aid or patch it to work part of the time. Just because someone was successful using a procedure at another organization doesn't mean they will have the same success at CenterPoint Energy

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Job stability. Excellent learning opportunities. Kindness and respect shown to staff. Great enthusiasm among employees. Love the challenges and opportunities provided to prove yourselves on the job. Flexible work schedules a great plus.

    Cons

Not too many benefits as an intern. The pay is just ok when compared to other industries. But overall, a fairly good place.

    Advice to Management

Need to consider raising pay on par with other companies else you will lose your best employees to your competitors.

I worked at CenterPoint Energy as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very overall friendly people, everybody wants to help you succeed if you're actually trying to do well on your work.

    Cons

Can be a lot of tedious desk work or paper work. Lots of meetings, but still nothing I couldn't handle.
