Pros
The faculty and staff at CPCC are like a huge family. Everyone here is very friendly, and makes you feel welcome here. The work environment at CPCC is laid back and relaxing, provided you do your job. There are great benefits available for full-time employees, including bonuses with nearly every raise. The pay is good for a public institution, but could be better. Lots of available PT positions, and many of these positions offer great flexibility for those on tight schedules.
Cons
Too many part-time positions and too few full-time positions. PT employees receive little to no benefits, and cannot work than 25-29 hours a week. FT staff are paid at the beginning of the month, while PT staff must wait until around halfway through the month to receive their paychecks. While there are many PT employees here who intend to work PT, there are also many who are involuntary PT employees, meaning they wish to work FT, but cannot due to no FT positions being available. I personally have been working PT here for about 2 years, and have been wanting a FT position since the first time I walked in the door. I always hear that due to budgets and the ACA, there are few FT positions available. I also feel that a lot of times PT staff are left out from recognition for the hard work and service they provide
