I worked at Central State University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to help a population of "at risk" students, salary is competitive, family atmosphere, ability to move around to different departments. Negative work environment because of bad employees and no standard.

    Cons

Top heavy organization, lots of employees don't care and do subpar work while competent employees bare the workload, many employees unqualified for their positions.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about your job and your subordinates. If you care about your department hire competent employees, get rid of the ones who are negative and doing subpar work. Promote, maintain and hold employees to a standard. How can you expect students to reach their goals hen employees set such a poor example.
