I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

payday. My boss is far away so he does not get on my nerves. They need better work from connection tools. the IBM contract to manage OS and servers and to restrict root access is bordering on insanity, falls under the more money than brains club membership.

Cons

Moving the HIGH TECH IT center to Monroe, LA ru kidding ?

Advice to Management

Quit mailing advertisements to people who already bought the service. It makes the company look silly and wastes everyones time and money and gas and electricity.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Decent pay and benefits.
The ability to work on multiple Internet technologies and hardware platforms.
The ability to learn as much as you want about those technologies and platforms.

    Cons

Well, if you're incompetent you won't last long.
They're pretty quick to get rid of folks who don't do their job.
It's a telco. And that means it comes with all the baggage, bureaucracy, and opportunity that you get working for a hundred year old company.

    Advice to Management

Consider doubling the potential bonus payout.
Look at the competition, AT&T pays up to twice the CenturyLink bonus.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Even though they cut some benefits with the last contract, still good benefits, and pay.

    Cons

They micro manage everything which ends up getting nothing done. They have respect as one of the principles of the company. Unfortunately the respect only goes up the chain, it does not flow down to the workers.

    Advice to Management

stop micro managing, let your onsite managers make decisions. Stop being so adversarial.
