I worked at CenturyLink full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good pay, nice people, and excellent benefits!

Cons

Long hours, hard to advance, and lots of seniority. Hard to find parking and you have to pay to park.

Advice to Management

Communicate with other departments to allow long time employees to move to other departments. Peoples skills are not used to the fullest.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time

    Pros

There is opportunity to work on a variety of things, although the reasons behind that is the frustrating lack of business processes. The environment is good for those who thrive on an organic business structure and the ability to turn on a dime.

    Cons

There is a significant gap in the communication of organizational goals and the low-level implementation, which creates great chaos and an insecure workforce. The organic approach to doing business and catering to every customized customer need worked when the company was smaller, but the merger has brought a great deal of conflicting values, work being repeated - unknowingly - by multiple roles, and sheer chaos. Many departments operate in a constant state of strained resources, leading to lengthy cycle times and conflicting priorities.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to identify and support the vision for either individual business units, or fully integrate all companies. As it is, each organization operates in a silo which is damaging to the culture and productivity.

I worked at CenturyLink full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits and high salary.

    Cons

    Antiquated systems and quoting processes

    Advice to Management

Get with the times. Upgrade your systems and make them easier to use. Expand your metro fiber reach in key southern markets.
