"Interesting work, but advancement seems stalled"

I worked at Cerner part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Interesting work, variety of work, some good people. Like any workplace, you find the people you like to work with and you stick with them and it should be fine. I did learn a lot and gained experience while I was there.

Cons

Seems difficult to progress and move up. I couldn't help but feel I was being used rather than being part of a team.

Advice to Management

Invest in paving a pathway of excellence for your employees, rather than viewing them as workhorses.

    Pros

IT galore! Great concept and need in today's world - Growing company is great for KC!

    Cons

Too many "Bobs" .. I reported to no fewer than 5 middle-managers in my 3 years there. Management often used job security as a motivation, or scare, tactic. Some might call that "toxic".

    Advice to Management

Promote the right people. Fewer Bobs.
