    Pros

Cerner is a great place to start your career out of college. There are many opportunities to excel if you put in the hours. The company is young and dynamic and always changing. If you like to travel, it can be a great place to work and to meet people. In terms of working for other consulting companies, your technical learning opportuniites are HUGE if you can commit yourself to learning at the beginning of your career. The money will come once you have gained the knowledge and experience.

    Cons

Pay according to market standards. Relocation policy has changed multiple times. You must own your own career to be able to excel within Cerner. Can be a boys club at times.

    Advice to Management

Provide more flexibility in terms of where associates can live.

    Pros

The best reasons to work at Cerner is the pay, benefits, people and the travel. Coming right out of college as an engineering from a zero income, the salary just looks perfect. The benefits covered practically everything a health individual would need and want. The first thing I am going to miss when I wake up the next day is the missed chance to see my co-workers. They were a group of people I would come back for if the work was so draining. Last, travel made the job more bearable. Travel gave me the opportunities to see the country, visit clients and personally observe how Cerner clients' use the system. Just observing their actions closed the loop on my work.

    Cons

The work life balance and the general satisfaction at work. Cerner is more than willing to work 50-60+ hours from you, which is alright time to time, but it has to be meaningful. Re-inventing the wheel at every client site is not meaningful. But the lack of meaning is partly derived from the lack of satisfaction at work. Coming home from work is so draining. Some of the days I would site waiting for approved work to come. And the ones that do come, is so off the wall, that you wished the tools that was used was more adept to the job.

Another downside is the information sharing. Outside of Cerner, the culture of information sharing exists. Inside of Cerner documentation is difficult to find and does not persist after so many of us quit.

    Advice to Management

Have more non-billable work available or promote their development. Just checking in on the project can show that you care.
