Great learning experience, helpful learning experience, short internship

    Pros

Everyone here is great! All it took was a simple IM for immediate team members, devs from other teams, and people from different lines of business to offer a helping hand.

    Cons

Access requests make it difficult to setup your developer environment. It is common to be blocked when working on new stories because you do not have yet access and this wastes precious time in a short 10-week internship.

    Pros

A focus on the customer and relationships. A culture of 'Schwab nice.' Benefits that encourage saving.

    Cons

An overwhelming lack of project management knowledge and maturity at the VP level. A gross misuse of the experienced PM's Project Services says it wants with a consulting background. A good ole boy network with a belief they are fine doing what they are doing. PM's do not drive anything; only report status; no ownership at all. 60% of my projects, where PM's are not allowed to manage the budget, were fiscally reckless by large magnitudes. Only the chosen few get their bonus or get promoted. Schwab boasts it will not tolerate retaliation, but if you speak the truth in a lessons learned session, retaliation will be real and imminent. The VP's are a kind of a thug mafia, and their lack of competency is costing Schwab tens of millions of dollars every year - which could easily be avoided.
