I have been working at Charter Schools USA full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

opportunity to serve kids very rewarding==

Cons

Some district teachers/administrators place blame on subs when teachers leave inadequate lesson plans etc==this can become petty and punitive.=subs not given opportunity to defend action taken against them--action carried over year to year which is unfair.

Advice to Management

Increase hourly pay year to year to encourage quality subs to stay. Differentiate between trained
teachers with experience and those with none. Kids sure know and feel the difference!

    Pros

You have a job, amazing vision for education, great speaker and should be in politics the way issues are skirted

    Cons

Micromanaging officials that castrate you for making your own decisions. Meanwhile they also castrate you for listening to them on key initiatives that may result in failures in other areas. (Even if you warned them or were trying to be proactive).

The company is run by a husband and wife so basically it's run by the wife whom is in way over her head. It's a shame that their vision will never be fully realized do to the fact that they can't act through with what they say.

98% of employees haven't been given raises in over 4 years meanwhile management is promoted and given raises. They are dumping all of their funds into "getting more schools" and "growth" however no funds or resources into researching what is needed to support this growth.

The way they've handled their last set of take over schools pretty much solidifies the fact that CSUSA will be banned from at least 3 states moving forward. In addition to that they do not seem very on track with race to the top and meeting these initiatives on time in 2014 seems unlikely.

    Advice to Management

Fire the people who play the game but don't work, pay your employees, follow through on your promisses
