I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Every other Friday off
Annual bonus
Salary
Value system
Lots of different opportunities

Cons

Who you know gets you promoted - not accomplishments, value added, or delivery/behaviors
The majority of managers aren't leaders and drive the promotion by who you know
Still a culture that is not accepting of change and struggles with having multiple generations of workers

Advice to Management

Individuals shouldn't be managers just because they have put in time at Chevron. Would love to see a company assessment of leadership skills and start targeting people for management positions based on individuals' ability to work with people to set and accomplish goals aligned with Chevron's ROI and goals

I have been working at Chevron as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

None as far as I can see.

    Cons

Worst Management folks. They spy on you, never trust you to do anything right.
I got the worst ever manager ever that one can think of - was not trusting me right from day one and never gave a chance to prove myself in anything.
The Manager kept belittling everyone in my consulting company.
Would not give remote access to do any work from home.
Used the Project Managers from other companies to spy on folks !!!!
Chevron is the worst company you could ever consult with.
I wish I had read the bad reviews about Chevron before I joined over there.
I hope this helps someone else who might get hired over there in the future.

    Advice to Management

Get a life and treat contractors like professionals and not like your slaves.
Grow up and don't be a bunch of kids and think that people don't know how bad you treat folks.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great group of people. Very conciansious of everyone. Careful planning is paramount in everything and it shows in the stakeholder returns.

    Cons

Sometimes some people can slow the decision process.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of analytical tools that do the same thing. Time is wasted to find the right tool.
