I have been working at Chevron full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Challenging opportunities, projects and personal growth potential. They really care about their employees and provide the benefits and support systems to back it up. Excellent processes for framing projects and opportunities. A diverse range of challenging assignments are available. Great processes for employee recognition.

Cons

It's large company and tends to be somewhat bureaucratic, but that typical of large companies.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work.

I worked at Chevron as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

9-80 work week. Good compensation. Bonuses based on performance. Recognition of efforts is good. Company is full of professional folks trying to do a good job. Extensive focus on safety and best practices.

    Cons

Typical political empire building that occurs in all large companies. Saw a couple of very unfair mistreatments of employees for political ends. While most of management was fair, these two incidents were not.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should have more feedback mechanisms to warn of and act on unproductive mid-management politics that do not serve the best interests of the employees, the company, and ultimately the stockholders.

I have been working at Chevron as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly environment
    Plenty of chances to learn
Chances to advance within the company
    Global
    Care about employees
    Work with integrity
    Free Starbucks coffee
    Well-payed

    Cons

Cubicle work (although it's pretty awesome as far as cubicles go)
    Long Hours

    Advice to Management

It's nice to have every other Friday off, but sometimes it makes the work week exhausting when working extra hours every day I'm in the office. Consider letting employees make the decision between 9/80 or 10/80 schedule.
