I have been working at Chicago Public Schools full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Freedom to deviate from curriculum. I know my objectives but I'm allowed to make the lessons work best for my students
- Fair pay and benefits
- Great co-workers

Cons

- Lack of gratitude at times from kids, parents, staff
- Bureaucracy is crazy at times. No one really knows for sure why something didn't get ordered or why we have to do this new things. But they are sure that it's beyond their control.

I have been working at Chicago Public Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I found a really great special education high school to work at that treated its teachers and students with really great respect and dignity.

    Cons

This school is an anomoly. Overall, administrators shove students with special needs into small classrooms with next to no resources.

I have been working at Chicago Public Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

An eight hour work day and that includes one hour for lunch

    Cons

Always worried about a job. Also dont ever plan on getting a raise unless you switch position. I never got one in over 6 years even thought all my annual reviews were above expectations.
