Pros

The best reasons to work at Children's National would have to be the kids and families that you serve. Even if you are a member of Environmental Services, it's easier to do your job knowing that a child benefits from clean bathrooms. Likewise, in my field it's beneficial to know that even if you are simply writing a press release, the exposure can help with getting more donors, which in turn, is more money for better technology.

Cons

The hierarchical society at work. Also, it's spread out in so many different locations, you have people doing whatever they want, which is a PR person's nightmare!

Advice to Management

To make themselves more accessible to their employees. To not assume that they know the best way to do something.

    Pros

Good benefits, mission of organization is wonderful, you know you are benefiting children in the region and world toward better health

    Cons

Leadership somewhat out of touch with daily issues and problems admin-wise. Patient care great, but behind the scenes administrative functions are not as well supported.

I worked at Children's National Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great People/Co-workers
    Great Mission
    Good Work Experience

    Cons

Will do 3x the work of what you were told. Management is stuck in their ways and not open to change. Major problem with directors and higher-ups.
