Pros

I learned a lot here, especially how to work with different personality types and navigate bureaucracy. It is great for people with school age children.

Cons

Slow to change, many unhappy and or incompetent employees, seemingly monetary reward for good performance

Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead weight. Reward those that are doing the work. Either get rid of the end of the year bonus ( it means nothing to people because everyone gets the same thing) OR make it really count for something by attaching it to the performance of the individual.

    Pros

CNMC encourages team-based work and provides opportunity to advance your career. Employees are friendly, encouraging and willing to assist new nurses.

    Cons

Management was not available on the unit I worked. There were issues and conflicts within management and leadership. Counseling services for health care employees was minimal to none.

    Advice to Management

CNMC should provide and offer more available counseling and support services for their employees and encourage their employees to seek assistance if necessary.

    Pros

Of course the #1 reason to work for Children's is knowing that everything you do is for the benefit of the children that the institution serves everyday. Even if you don't work on the clinical side, you are aware that your job, in some way, impacts the lives of the children and their families. I worked with some very good people who are passionate about there work. All in all, it is a respected institution and will look great on your resume if you decide to pursue other career opportunities.

    Cons

All departments are not located in the hospital, which can lead to individuals doing their "own thing" because of lack of supervision. Several essential, yet non-clinical departments are spread throughout the city and suburbs, which makes it difficult to coordinate projects and meet benchmarks in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Find a location that can house each non-clinical department. It doesn't make financial sense to lease several spaces in and around the city. You will accomplish more and lessen employee frustration.
