Pros

Not many. It is a very negative environment where most employees have grown to greatly dislike their job and the unfair and unequal treatment from one employee to another.

Cons

* Poor leadership model. Management is extremely uninspiring, unapproachable and intellectually unimpressive (this includes low level supervisors as well as senior executives). I feel like I am living in a never ending Dilbert comic strip where everybody is either Wally or the Pointy-Haired Boss.

* Terrible work environment. Teamwork and collaboration are nonexistent and many employees are disgruntled and dissatisfied … perfect environment for a union.

* Absolutely no work life balance. Expect to work long days, nights and weekends.

I worked at Chiquita Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Until budget cuts, big brand with opportunities to work on many different projects

    Cons

Senior Management is arrogant, budgets are cut to zero preventing new product development, brand programs, market research to drive growth or slow the decline in market share, revenues, accounts, profits...it's all sliding downward.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your experienced employees who have remained to help you from making bad business decisions and learn the business

I have been working at Chiquita Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    401K match 150%.
Makes you completely revaluate your future career prospects

    Cons

This is the most toxic working environment I've ever experienced. All the new hires received very minimal training. Most only shadowing the person who they were replacing for a matter of 2 weeks. Senior management has no strategic plan. There's absolutely no structure. The systems are outdated and processes are inefficient or completely absent. The company had only been in Charlotte a matter of months when the CEO 'stepped down' and they eliminated 300 jobs! I have no clue how this company hasn't filed bankruptcy for a SECOND time yet. Morale is very low and people are leaving left and right. I'm sure after the company receives their tax incentive money and they reach their minimum requirements they will layoff a lot more people. If you're looking for a rewarding career in a productive, structured environment then keep looking! If you love inefficiencies and the constant prospect of layoffs then this may be the company for you.

    Advice to Management

You should have been listening to your employees for the past decade. Enjoy bankruptcy part II.
