I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Not much to think of other than the Managers. Directors and Executives are getting a very good bonus, while blaming the staff when things don't go well.

Cons

Bad Management
Poor benefits
The CTO in Phoenix is cluless. Lot of bright and good people are leaving Choice beacause of his leadership or lack of. HR Director in Phoenix and HR VP are clueless and are jokes. No idea how these people got promoted.

Advice to Management

Reach out to the work force. Check why so many turn overs in Phoenix IT. Check if the Sr. Directors and Vps shared the employee engagement with their staff. Benefits are jokes. Spread the wealth. Abolish the yearly and mid-term reviews. These are not effecive and only counter productive. Hire a better HR Director.

I worked at Choice Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company does provide a good training platform for people and the trainers are great, downside is the reality of what happens once you go live and try to meet their expectations.

    Cons

The incentive program (in addition to your hourly wage) is developed and skewed in order for poeple to NOT meet their minimums, thus the company doesn't have to pay out incentives. Also the company does not provide a venue for customers (actual contact with people) to provide their individual comments or opinions on your service.

    Advice to Management

Instead of only relying on a QA monitored call, would suggest management (as so many other companies do) open up the channel to customers who can directly kudo or acknowledge a particular Agent and the work they have done to not only gain a reservation, but in the case when the Agent can't to applaud the Agent's work and efforts/......the company y is not current with today's Customer Relationship employer environment. I would not recommend working here!

I have been working at Choice Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Cheap hotel rates as an employee
    2. People at lower management are general nice and real.

    Cons

    1. Company has cut alot of the benefits such as gym, food terrance, student class reimbursements and employees stock options.

    2. Health care benefits is SUCKS. You pay out of pocket 1st $1,200 (single coverage) $2,400.00 (Family) for deductibles- Company is more concern about savings their pennies. for Senior Mgmnt bonuses.

    3. Every November company lays off employees ( Nov. 11 it layoff 90 employees)

4.Human Resources "claims" we are here to help the employees, where actually trying to find ways and methods to save the company more money.

    5. Too many self absorb egos at the top. ( such as the star on "Undercover Boss")

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to show that it cares about the people who work there by standing behind them, which it currently doesn't do. Have a better training program for new employees. Go back to old Health care benefits. BRING BACK CHUCK!
