I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Work/life balance, excellent people and plentiful talent, still a good culture and values about fair play and caring for people

Cons

An interesting mix of strong hatred of clear goals with accountability, thick red-tape bureaucracy, self-serving senior leadership that has been brought in externally mixed with the wrong sort in power internally

Advice to Management

Continue to invest in developing talent. Young ambitious employees quickly hit the wall and many choose to move to different companies to continue to progress. Create more programs for high-performers to gain visibility, take on new and challenging projects within or outside their current role, and don't be stingy with bonuses for a job well done.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

John Chambers has created a dynamic and diverse leadership team that is focused on winning. Also, the company has such a broad set technologies and services that the TAM for Cisco is massive. Couple these things with a large cash position and a decent stock dividend and you get a company that is going to be hard to beat from a tech and financial perspective.

    Cons

It's a huge company! Sometimes it is hard to navigate the organization and understand who is doing, or responsible, for what.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work - life balance is amazing.
Everything is networked. You can work from home.
Most managers don't care how long you work as long as you get the work done.
I reach the office by 11 am. And that is fine.
Because I'm not a morning person, I absolutely love the flexible working hours.
The compensation and benefits are great. I was never expecting to be paid in 6 figures, fresh out of college.

    Cons

    Seems a bit political.
Raises are rare it seems. Not sure.

    Advice to Management

How about more goodies like backpacks and tee shirts?
Those go a long way for new hires.
