"Great place to retire from"

Pros

Very experienced managers, smart folks, security, company is not going to disappear in a few years. Stock is doing well, salary increases

Cons

I am not sure whether Cisco is a "hip" place to work anymore. There is a lot of security, but if you were to go to Stanford campus, you won't really hear people dying to work there.

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are all (mostly) sharp especially when it comes to engineering and sales. It's great to be number 1 and work at number 1.

    Cons

There are many fiefdoms where input is not appreciated. It's a bunch of happy talk to each other - this will be the end of the company if it continues. Leaders should all know what cisco does and thats not always the case.

    Advice to Management

    Clean up middle management!

  2. "Positive career growth opportunity, compensation in line with roles and responsibilities"

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time

    Pros

If you are agressive in nature, have a slightly pushy personality, you are more than able to advance your career and influence your peers and management.

    Cons

You have to be willing to take a more individual path versus having your team contribution/influence equal individual win. Succeed at the cost of others -

    Advice to Management

Reinvest and leverage your current human capitol...Cisco possess some of the greatest corp. talent globally, top tier management, SR VP, VP level should be equally measured on division performance and by how well they are able to convert underperforming talent to top producers. There are justifiable reasons for cutting losses and releasing under-performing individuals, it should be a transparent process and the burden carried up to the highest level fairly and equally so the expectation for performance is understood and not manipulated.
