    Pros

A great place to work and learn for new engineers. I learnt a great deal from this place and the place is great. I like this place.

    Cons

Since this is a big company there is some beaurocracy in there. The growth potential is limited since there are so many people in this company.

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A strong strategic view of the markets and the company's ability to find the right products that customers need keep Cisco at the forefront of their industry. Well-paying bonuses.

    Cons

Despite what executive management says, it really is more about shareholders than employees. It's officially a pattern/trend when layoffs happen every year, it isn't just an adjustment. Investment in employees isn't the company philosophy when base pay raises haven't been broadly given in many years.

    Advice to Management

You may find some talent will come to Cisco just to have the name on the resume... no doubt it does open doors, But bad employment practices supported by and enabled by new HR management will unfortunately make Cisco a second tier player where people just hide under their desks until the next wave passes over.
