    Pros

If you are interested in global companies, Citi is very global and there are many jobs where you will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues overseas. And the people are by and large quite smart.

    Cons

Senior management (as of 2009, at any rate) were a bunch of chickens. When there were headcount reductions, it was never the most senior executives, it was always a few levels below. That way they didn't have to face the pain of firing someone they know, they just made their underlings do it. And they didn't have much rhyme or reason to the cut backs. They would also fund departments without requiring other groups to work with them. If the other groups decided not to, then the newly funded group was out in the cold - but management didn't care if their investment was wasted. Again, they lacked the courage, foresight and vision to be forceful about driving change. No wonder Citi is mired in craziness!

    Advice to Management

Senior execs need to walk the talk and enforce their strategies through words AND actions. They need to reinforce their strategies constantly or no one will take them seriously. That's partly why they have had such a hard time recovering from the banking debacle.
