Pros

I'm a month into my time at Clay and I'm been very happy. The vibes are good. Diverse team of smart/pleasant/creative people, and there's a sincere sense of community here. Clay treats employees well in a lot of small ways that add up. Competitive pay. So far so good.

Cons

Typical startup-y things. Teams don't know what each other are working on, and Product hasn't figured out how to bridge the gaps. Our external engineering brand hasn't caught up with the cool work we're doing. Major decisions get blocked on leadership.

Pros

What truly makes Clay special is the people. From day one, I've been surrounded by creative problem-solvers who genuinely care about doing great work together. The leadership team has built an environment where non-traditional backgrounds are celebrated, not questioned. The culture is refreshingly human. While AI is making the world feel more transactional, Clay is going the opposite direction by investing heavily in hiring thoughtful, action-oriented people. Everyone raises the bar for each other, and you can feel that energy in every conversation and collaboration. There's also real trust here. I've been given meaningful responsibility to contribute to product strategy, build new systems, and help shape our growth - not because of a traditional sales background, but because the team believes in empowering people to make an impact. That kind of trust is rare and incredibly motivating. Clay practices what we preach. We use our own product daily, which means everyone deeply understands what we're building and who we're building it for. It creates a shared mission that brings the team together. If you're looking for a place where you can grow, be challenged, and work alongside genuinely exceptional people, Clay is it.

Cons

The pace is fast, the role is new, so there is only so much structure and enablement Clay can offer at this stage. There is still a lot of building happening in terms of operational structure and process, so you need to be comfortable with ambiguity and building as you go. This is also not a 9-5 job.
