I have been working at Clear Creek ISD part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Work when you want to.
Variety of ages, subjects, and schools
Teachers appreciate your work
Contribute to the community and get to know the kids

Cons

Often short notice
Sometimes no lesson plans
Some ages of kids can be more difficult

Advice to Management

Recognize and increase pay for tenure. I was there for several years and worked more days per year than the teachers, working Substitute Teacher or Paraprofessional. I left at the same rate of pay that I started at. Some surrounding districts give raises after 6 months or so.

I have been working at Clear Creek ISD part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great hours for employees with children in school.

    Cons

This department is very unorganized. Sometimes after a morning route, there will be a meeting planned without any kind of notice. When the district has an early release day, you're on your own when it comes down to when to clock in and when to arrive at each school. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. There seems to be a lot of frustrated unhappy employees. I am new to the district and that is what I have observed this past school year. I previously worked for another district driving a bus as well. I love the actual "job" itself, but the management team brings the workplace down in my opinion.

  2. "It has been a positive experience, but lack of quality benefits and salary makes it a difficult job."

    Pros

You get great support from staff. There is a desire for most students to succeed.

    Cons

Health care costs make it almost impossible for a head of household to work here as the primary means of a family's income. Salaries are low.

    Advice to Management

Clear Creek ISD must make a way for men to stay employed and support a family by being a teacher.
