    Pros

V.good benefits package, better than any other retail distributor in Singapore by far. Company has a real social focus and cares about the less well off They really do seem to care about staff happiness

    Cons

At the end of the day, it's your typical Asian family owned business where loyalty is more important than performance Top management are outdated and comfy with their security and authority, especially if viewed as important in the eyes of the owner Company culture is aloof and unfriendly. Don't expect a warm welcome by office colleagues unless you get to know them, or are connected to someone powerful within the... company (ie close to the owner)

    Advice to Management

In the age where all your competitors are panicking to see if they can keep up with the speed of change, you need to stop paying lip service to "change" and "action": * cutting manpower to save operational costs okay fine.. but we all see that you are keeping a huge no. of old guard in decision making positions. * many of these have final say in big issues, which is a terrible mistake because they neither... understand modern business, nor are they capable enough for the future of the company (yes they contributed a lot in the past, but it is very different from what is needed to drive future growth) * taking the time to educate, explain and make a business case to these old guard individuals can take weeks or even months in an age when modern executives in similar positions already understand the same business case at an instinctive level: So while another business might approve it in a week (because the stakeholder understands the benefits and impact almost instantly), Club21 will take 4 months perhaps, because you have to educate the leadership on: a) the product or solution (sometimes you have to bring them up to speed on the entire history of product and where it sits in a modern business) b) the structure needed to support it c) the way in which it will be used d) the workflows that need to change in order to support the new solution Any CEO will tell you that 4 months VS a week, multiplied over not one but many business decisions (because this cycle repeats itself endlessly in Club21), is corporate suicide. Yet Club21 continues to let this occur by placing too much power in the hands of obsolete decision makers. You can employ Mark Zuckerberg himself. You can employ every top consultant in the world. But if every decision is micro-managed down to its finest component by the top (people who are _not_ experts in every area), you suffocate ideas and talent, and all you have left at the end of the day is a long list of brilliant ideas that never made it past your boardroom.
