I have been working at Coach part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Sales environment without extreme pressure
Staff passionate about the product
Many corporate incentives rewarding exemplary service

Cons

Constantly shifting the focus for sales associates. One month its clientelling, the next month thats out the window and its metrics.

Advice to Management

By switching the focus of sales associates almost monthly diminishes the ability to maximize sales. If store/district management was encouraged to build upon each metric rather casting one aside to replace with another, I believe associates can be more successful. For example, when emailing clients was a priority, I personally took advantage and established great relationships. Now the focus on metrics has eliminated my drive/ability to spend time reaching out to maintain those relationships which would in turn improve my individual metrics.

I have been working at Coach full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Passionate people
    - Creative projects and positive attitudes
    - Strong teamwork with shared goals
    - Time and resource investment in efficiences
    - Great Products! ...and discounts
    - Great benefits (improvements to PTO were made recently)

    Cons

    - Working with global teams means working day and night; most managers are flexible though
    - Many teams put in more than average hours, even for NYC
    - Not good at promoting from within
    - Almost impossible to move from Product Category to Product Category or Department to Department, though I did due to many circumstances over the years
    - Work Life Balance is a term spoken but, not encouraged

    Advice to Management

    - Always look to promote from within first. Many people leave and come back a few years later 2 levels higher! Believe me, people notice and it looks BAD.
    - Encourage associates to work toward their goals, even if they are ultimately in another department or even industry
    - Get a gym to move close by so people can exercise more easily and then, provide reduced rates (your gym benefits cost more than we can get on our own)
