I worked at Coca-Cola Company as a contractor (More than 3 years)

Pros

Access to lots of resources and subject matter experts. Interesting work and lots to keep you busy.

Cons

To many managers spend their time setting up meetings and giving powerpoint presentations about hypothetical opportunities or marketing theories with very little ROI or market implementation. A very liberal culture with a political statement to make at every decision. Cut throat towards employees. Too many high-paid "leaders" (manager and above) spending Coke's precious $$ on expensive global agencies for things Coke doesn't need also acting like they performed the work the agency delivered. Too many people flying around the world for no apparent reason.

Advice to Management

Reduce your marketing expenses by 50% and scrutinize big expensive programs in the CCNA marketing department. CCNA is not growing fast enough so stop spending there. Get rid of your expensive Director-level and p employees that waste time talking and not doing something except try and get their next opportunity somewhere else. It's not show business it's CPG.

    I worked at Coca-Cola Company full-time

    Pros

    Decent salary and bonus structure.

Sales goals are easy to hit IF you don't mind overloading stores with product.

Dont work weekends or national holidays.

You spend most of the day alone.

You have a list of stops for the day, but you choose the order and time that you go to them.

If you really familiar with your accounts, you can get away with staying home and making up orders on your portable computer. I used to go whole weeks without working. This creates great work-life balance, but it's not the right way to do things.

Get lots of dates with attractive employees and customers in the stores.

    Cons

The job is listed as "sales/marketing," but it's really just customer service and filling shelves.

You have to go to 12-15 stores per day. If you let it, that can easily turn into 10-12 hours.

YOU SPEND SO MUCH TIME FILLING SHELVES. There's no time left to work on sales. You just order as much as you can (to reach sales goals...even if the customer doesn't need it) and move on.

Customers can buy for MUCH less from wholesalers without the extra strings attached. This makes it tough to sell the required products without breaking the rules.

The district managers are delusional. They don't realize/care how much time it would take to do all of the things that they ask. Employees stop caring and just do enough to get by.

    No more company cars.

Every week, they give you stacks of signs and coupons that you have put into your personal car. Throw most of it away when you get home. You won't need it.

    Advice to Management

They already know. They just don't care.

    Advice to Management

    Route trucks better.
