I have been working at Coldwater Creek part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great co workers
Flexible hours
Constant busy work

Cons

Little pay
Cutting hours
Quality of clothes on the decline

Advice to Management

When working on floorset, please proofread what you are sending to the stores before you actually send it. There were a lot of mistakes that could have been avoided if the time was taken to proofread. Also, again in regards to floorset please place clothes in a place where you would be able to reach. Realistically speaking, no one wants to have to get a shirt on an overcrowded table, underneath a shelf with a wardrober flush to the table. If your employees are having a hard enough time trying to reach that difficult stack, imagine what it would be like if you were a customer. It is not safe for our customers or your employees.

I have been working at Coldwater Creek part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have worked at two different store locations and have had very different experiences. But I will say that in general, Coldwater Creek has some of the nicest and hardest working associates. They are very under appreciated by corporate but definitely make the work better.

It's nice to not work on commission but the company has not seen any raises in a few years.

It's the company culture to praise associates for work well done but this isn't always done.

    Cons

I feel that the corporation is really disorganized and uninformed about their customer. They are trying to get into the game with retailers like j.Crew and fail to recognize that the core customer doesn't want that.

Floorsets are tedious and long but are changed every two weeks!

Seems the company would rather promote from without than from within and there is little room for advancement.

Corporate seems to still be running on the values it held when it was a much smaller company, but now that this store is in nearly every mall it doesn't make sense to allow customers to return years old, worn merchandise for a full refund.

Quality of the product has gone down drastically and is hard to standby when it's falling apart by the time we open the new boxes of shipment.

Customers have been spoiled by old polices like coupon stacking an endless returns that they can be difficult to deal with. Many are often grumpy or simply unhappy when they walk in the door and often take it out on associates.

As with any store, management can make or break your experience. I have had terrible managers and wonderful managers, proving that just the problems with the company doesn't have to ruin your working experience but the people you work with are everything.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to stand by and back up their associates more. Recognizing associates for a job well done is important.

Training everyone how to do everything, that way there will be less confusion between associates and cut down on mistakes.
