    I have been working at Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Have seen agents make well into six figures (sellers) in first year. You can help people while not knowing every detail about insurance. There is a separate team to enroll (ex-HR execs). No resistance from business owners in 2013! Work in a remote office not a territory office. Tenured 1099s have their own offices, check out which one pulls in the most revenue and join their team.

    Cons

    Have seen some openers wash out (p&c guys) inside sales mentality. Territory offices, one per metro area. They are full of W2 employees who are well meaning but will pull down a true opener with training and meetings to make the W2's numbers. Amazing difference in revenue vs remote office in same city. Work in a remote office focused on selling and you will make bank.

    Advice to Management

    Leave the field alone so they can run their business. Don't change the strong ethical culture or great pricing and home office support.
