    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

flexible and regular work hours, benefits, good relationships with few workers

    Cons

arrogant workers, unreliable people at HR Department or so who won't help you with your situation, no time off for vacation unless you work there for a long number of years, getting only one day off due to sickness or death of a family member

If you are very shy, socially awkward, and/or have difficulty connecting or getting along with other people, you probably should not work for this company. You might be harassed, teased, mocked, name-called, etc. Then, you may have no one to defend you once you report the problem.

I do not want someone else to go through the same thing I had.

    Advice to Management

Treat all workers with respect. Show consideration to their feelings. Accept them for who they are. Be fair and honest.

I worked at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fantastic research opportunities.
Great platform for professional development; if you take initiative you can usually find support.
Staff housing is affordable for the area (still $$ but offers great opportunity for a short commute).
Paid schooling (through local community college). Decent medical, decent retirement

    Cons

Resort/retirement/military/college town= higher cost of living. Wages barely keep up
     Unequal salary/experience relationship between departments.
Depending on department, supervisor: schedule management.

A mix of snarky, jaded attitudes, and those passionate about the work and creating a positive experience for themselves and others. There are limitations, and if someone is dedicated to a pursuit, then they will usually find a solution. Find these people, and you'll be fine. "plug along,' complain about things that are in your job description, or actively move backwards regarding things like accuracy, and what is there to be sympathetic about?

    Advice to Management

Don't side step existing departments to drum up revenue. Support of all aspects of the foundation is a must.
