    research environment is absolutely great -- intellectually challenging and rewarding

    The pay is rather low but not surprising as it is the same in most academic research enviroments

    Pros

    - School has good reputation - will look good on a resume
    - Professors are intelligent - you can learn a lot from the more socially adept ones

    Cons

    - Much higher emphasis on research than teaching
    - Most profs look at grad students as a source of cheap labor
    - Classes at grad level are mostly a waste of time
    - Little to no management - difficult to find any important information about requirements
    - Very poor at helping grad students get jobs in industry
