Approves of CEO

I have been working at Columbia University full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The administrative teams can be amazing, hard working people who truly care about the students and delivering a great program.

Cons

It can feel like there is a class system dictating that administrators have less to contribute to the program and overall success of the school than faculty. Though faculty are certainly knowledgeable and many are truly awe-inspiring, it can be demoralizing to be treated as a second class citizen.

Advice to Management

Be clear about the values, mission and goals of the school and hold everyone accountable for their contribution, including faculty.

I have been working at Columbia University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is good for doing research and if you like New York City then you will enjoy the main campus on the Upper West Side/Harlem.

    Cons

The administration and IT is going to drive you nuts and you will struggle to make it to the end of the month. Medical campus is located in a bad and dirty neighborhood. The metro station (168th Street) probably the worst in Manhattan.

    Pros

The school provides an office which three RAs share. My professor provides computers to use. You can print out for free. You receive about 20% discount for your cellphone monthly fee.

    Cons

The school gym is not free, but that is all.
