The benefits and perks of working at an Ivy League university.

Cons

There is not a lot of room for advancement, but that isn't too much of a problem

I worked at Columbia University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You'll have Columbia's name on your resume; Nice-looking campus; Some education benefits. Working with students can be interesting and engaging.

    Cons

-Intensely bureaucratic/political; Little-to-no upward mobility; Bare-bones pay; Use of vacation time (even during traditional holiday seasons) intensely frowned upon
-Disheartening and draining work environment - ineffective people stay in positions forever, total lack of innovation or energy. Very little positive motivation for staff. Either very little oversight/review by higher-ups or complete micro-management
-HR is ineffective, and sometimes damaging - issues taken to HR are usually swept under the rug or ignored completely, while taking an issue to HR or asking for guidance is seen as a negative.
    - No communication between departments; Everything from getting an answer to an email to getting hired take ages to complete
