Pros

Great Pay
Some Autonomy
Great Technology
Columbus State has good retirement because it is part of the STRS. Great support from IT department, building maintenance, etc.

Cons

Hard on adjuncts; Need more training about policies and procedures; Hard to move up because people stay in the their positions for such a long period of time. No benefits; Seven hours of sick time every couple of quarters. If you don't use it, you lose it. No other benefits.

Advice to Management

Give adjuncts a place to call home. Adjuncts sometime feel like a man/woman without a country. Don't always feel appreciated.

Good benefits, lots of opportunities to learn and grow but not advance.

    Cons

Communication is horrible - employees learn about changes through the paper
Executives aren't open to feedback and unapproachable
Executive team is out of touch and manages by intimidation
College is facing serious financial issues due to poor forecasting/ budgeting, excessive spending on consultants, building layers of new management and not preparing for a decrease in enrollment

Communicate - treat employees with respect and value.
Break down the layers of management and bureaucracy
