I worked at Commonwealth-Altadis full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Company car, full paid benefits, 6% company match 401k

Cons

Everything else. Micromanaged, sales goals change by the week, impossible to make your numbers with constant change, bonus program is laughable, tracked how long it takes you to make calls, drive between calls, and expected to make 10-12 calls per day all while selling new(always changing) programs, POS and account management. They expect the moon, and don't give you any leeway on anything. I am so glad to be done here. I expect this company to be bought out very VERY soon seeing as how the Brits don't want it anymore.

Advice to Management

Have some realistic expectations for a completely different market than Europe. Yes, brand awareness is great, but signage needs to be simple and to the point. Also, you have out priced all of your brands in the categories they need to be in. Advice? I think its too late for any advice. If you work here, get busy finding another job, and fast. Ship is sinking..

    Pros

    Team effort both management and employees. Management fair, open-minded and caring. Never overly critical, there to help. Good policies, programs and plan of operation. Better than average bonus that everyone received equally. Yearly conventions with meetings and time to also relax and communicate with others in every state. Share of market up in the top four for USA Gold.

    Cons

    "The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming" Everything changed and sales now declining rapidly. When owned by an individual and then an ESOP company, there was no stopping our growth. One man alone, Gary took us to the top. Now, with new policies, programs and changing plans constantly, going nowhere. Upper management has no idea how to train and motivate the sales force. Not to mention micro managing, constantly critizing, demanding and monitoring. Heck, for any illness, emergency, or personal reasons one must take vacation day or sick time to get away. Brits lost the war now doing same with one great company. Hang in there those still surviving.

    Advice to Management

    Treat each employee with total respect. Work as a team, not micro-managing with constant demands. Give them time to breathe.

    Pros

    401 K great, health benefits, pay decent

    Cons

    Traveling store in vehicle, paperwork to death, emailed to death, deadlined to death, last minute changes every week of focus brands, no focus, complete negative work environment at all times, corporate micromanaging at all times down to the minute, GPS phones on the way, 8-5 "work only" days although salaried, no understanding of the field level stress at the top

    Advice to Management

    Run a true route for a quarter and achieve said goals being held to same standards as the Territory reps....then you will get some respect.
