I have been working at Community Health Systems full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Very nice people to work with, good management.

Cons

Atmosphere leaves much to be desired, computer program is one of the worst, LPNs are a little bitter and should be forced to pursue further education.

Advice to Management

Provide more chances for employee growth.

    Pros

If you keep out of the politics and just do your job, you can learn a LOT in the IS/IT department in a very short amount of time. CHS is a great company to learn at.

    Cons

You are a number. Accept it. Deal with it. Do not expect to understand why executives do the things they do. Politics, like in any big corporation, are rampant at all levels. There is a lot of dead weight in the middle management tiers that should probably be gutted. Death by process is common in certain areas and micro-management by certain C level executives(CIO) is pretty bad.

    Advice to Management

What can I tell you that you already don't know? People are cattle. As long as they are happy to have a job, they won't rock the boat. You know that. I know that. If only the "cattle" longed for greener pastures. Then you would have to treat them better. Oh, and lose the ties. Nobody likes them. Especially the engineers who never see their clients.

I have been working at Community Health Systems as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job and not much work

    Cons

No remote, on-site no matter what and 100 consultants traveling to sit at corp with no cube or chair most of the time. Totally squatting wherever. No communication w/ contractor's unless headout at last minute, with no plan. Hard to deal with expenses, have to go round & round. Management does not communicate between areas or try to use resources where needed.

    Advice to Management

Management does not communicate between areas or try to use resources where needed. Try to run this like a business and respect employees & contractor's and not waste OUR government money!
