Pros

Great brands that have a lot of potential.
Fantastic R&D and Supply Chain groups that work well together.
Good benefits and flexible work/life balance.

Cons

Centralized decision making that is slow, risk averse and generally not as well informed as it believes it is.

Advice to Management

Truly embrace "Teach & Trust". With every decision having to go up to a Sr. VP or President, you will never be nimble, nor will you have any truly amazing new products. The lack of empowerment results in churn, lost opportunities, frustration, and ideas that had potential for greatness being compromised into boring offerings.

    Pros

Good people... working hard to try and find solutions to larger business / industry problems

    Cons

Brands are struggling to change with the times. Need to be sharper with innovation, and not rely so heavily on core competencies such as canning and low cost protein.

    Advice to Management

Need to be better change agents. CEO is talking change, but leaders are blocking it, with posturing for their own roles and departments. RQI needs an overhaul. Building new items purely on capabilities has not proven successful. Need to innovate around changing consumer needs.

I have been working at Conagra Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

ConAgra has a Midwestern culture which values a strong work ethic and performance with a competitive comp/benefits package. Family friendly, depending on the department that one is working within. Workload and development opportunities appear to be in line with many CPG companies.

    Cons

It's tough to understand what the true long term goals are of the company are. The message has changed over time and ongoing communication isn't consistent. Business performance is challenged which has resulted in many short term actions that don't appear to be well thought out. Lack of a cohesive, long term strategy is an ongoing miss at the company.

    Advice to Management

The company struggles to define a long term market strategy that is reflected in the leadership across business units. There's a lack of cohesion that is visible across department deliverables and objectives. Leadership would benefit from shifting focus from the short term business needs to fully acknowledging the changing business climate, and develop/commit to a long term plan which reflects these changes.
