I worked at Concorde Career Colleges full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Very diverse student population, at least we got free parking in PDX
Close to the Max line

Cons

no time to prep- work - work -work
Now the students start at 0730-1200 1230-500 1/2 hour lunch break give me a break
Administration has no clue what Recruitment is doing or who they are bringing in, if the students have a pulse they are in- it's So number driven. did I mention that the teaching staff is on the bottom of pecking order. If you say anything that might be interpreted as constructive- watch out.
Supplies are in short order- seems that new carpeting is more important than copy paper.

Advice to Management

Get a clue- the staff is so over worked and all you do is hold meetings and eat
Listen to staff--no wonder the MA program has lost 6 instructors in the past year - maybe it's time to replace the PD??????

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    Pay was good.
There were occasionally opportunities for advancement

    Cons

Extremely high turnover. Every two weeks someone would be let go, usually 5 people at a time.
Very stressful environment. You never knew where you stood from one day to the next.
    Zero feedback from management.
All that mattered were the enrollment numbers. Enrollment at any cost.
Student education was never even on the radar, just enrollment and passing them through.
Students could be placed with "externships" but seldom were able to find full-time jobs afterward.

    Advice to Management

I can't offer advice to senior management at Concorde. They don't want to hear it and are only interested in short-term profit. Staff and students are tools for them to use and discard.

I worked at Concorde Career Colleges full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation, Benefits, the Students are awesome!!!!

    Cons

In a not so area of town. Senior management can be unfair at times. They show a lot of favoritism towards senior employees and neglect new upcoming employees. Admissions Director & us President had to close of a relationship-mean spirited

    Advice to Management

show appreciation to new upcoming employees and stop showing favoritism, try to genuinely care more about your students!
