    Contingent worker = contractor forever

    Pros

As a contractor basically your salary

    Cons

They will keep you as a contractor without an opportunity to become full timer. All the full time jobs are only for people already in the company and if you by any chance get an interview is only to comply with non discrimination guidelines. They have now 14 days off which you must take so with your vacation basically you end up working only 11 months.

    Pros

    - Good work life balance - Decent pay, although not amazing compared to what other companies offer IT employees - Good people to work with - Good 401k matching and benefits

    Cons

    - Going into the office is still required (as of mid-2022) - Less and less diversity as you move up the leadership chain - Conservative culture that does not truly embrace innovation and technology like they market themselves as doing (which is not very shocking for an o&g company) - I truly do not know if ConocoPhillips will still be a company 50-75 years from now unless they restructure their business model. The company is on a downward trend - No competitive pay (they use the market value of IT employees within the o&g industry to determine compensation instead of using the market value of IT employees in the IT industry. Seems like people outside of IT see this as a fair way to evaluate and determine compensation, but if you're an IT employee, it's hard to reconcile with the pay knowing what your peers with the same skillsets are being paid in other industries)
