I worked at Consumer Technology Association as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress, early leave on summer Fridays, lunch and learns, good location/onsite parking (but not free).

    Cons

Expect the interns to go above and beyon and work hard for up to 11 months, but they also treat you as replaceable and "just an intern" even though I ended up doing more work than some full time employees at time. The work is very cyclical which means some months it's slow and others are busy. Inconsistent rules/best practices between teams and departments

    Advice to Management

The internship program stopped being much of a program after the first four months. To have a positive internship it really depends what department you're in/how good your supervisor is. Some departments and teams do a lot to make the interns feel welcome in the beginning, others don't. HR should do more to onboard interns and have more communication with intern supervisors. Some internship job descriptions/titles are misleading or entirely inaccurate when it comes to day to day work. If the company is going to rave about how great the internship program is, they need to make more of an effort to ensure the experience is consistent across departments.
